Carri Currier

I took up art in the early 80's as a relaxation from my "day job" which involved computers.  I enjoyed getting on "the other side" of my brain in the evenings and on vacation.  As I began selling my work I considered a career change and planning retirement from the computer field.  My avocation has become my passion.

I work in several media depending on the subject and the circumstance.  When traveling, watercolor or pastels are better than oils due to drying time.  Misty conditions such as Scotland, however, are difficult for pastels on paper and lend themselves to watercolor.   I love the play of the light on the mountains or the side of an old barn and the cast shadows of the trees.

I love to travel and paint on location or paint in my studio from reference photographs I've taken.  Many of my paintings are of France since I've travelled there several times but I also have painted scenes from US travel.  My abstracts are generally suggested by nature (clouds, water, forests etc.)
